Archaeology and History Open Weekend – 19th and 20th July 2025

The popular Archaeology and History weekend is back at the Dovecote Garden, West Dean on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July.

This popular event includes an Artisan Makers Medieval Style Market with the following displays:

  • Sea -salt making,
  • Musket ball making,
  • Woodturning,
  • Leather making,
  • Metalworking,
  • Beekeeping,
  • Fabric dyeing,
  • Paper and canvas work,
  • Pottery and Orchard Products.

There will be self-guided tours of the Elizabethan Terrace, Bothy, Old Manor House, Walled Garden and Orchard.

There will also be guided timed tours of the dovecote.

All Saints Church will be open and is well worth a visit. This Grade 1 listed church is of great antiquity with parts of the building dating back to Saxon times. 

Tea and coffee will be sold in support of All Saints Church electrical works renewal project.

Dogs on short leads are welcome.

Parking by the church entrance £5 cash. Walk in adults £3, children under 10 free..
