This is for the mothers
And the ones that soon will be
For those it hasn’t happened for
But want it desperately.
This is for the mothers
Dearly missed now they are gone.
And this is for the mothers
Left behind, missing someone.
This is for the fathers
Who must be a mum as well.
And this is for the mothers
Doing this all by themselves.
This is for the others
Standing in and stepping up.
For those who wonder every day
If what they do is enough.
This is for the mothers
Who are giving all they’ve got
Committing every moment
To a role that never stops
And though they do not ask for thanks
They do deserve our praise
For everything they do
That we don’t see them do each day.
So this is for the mothers
Every single one of us
We all have something in common;
We do what we do for love
