Clean the Green, 18th Jan 9:30 – 10:30am
This Saturday there is a community litter pick. All equipment will be provided and the friends of Walmer Rec will make you very welcome.
Planting a Community Orchard 29th Jan and 5th Feb. 10am – 4pm
The Friends of Walmer Road Rec are planting a community orchard and need volunteers to help with the tree planting on 29th January and 5th February. There are going to be 16 trees in total with a mix of apple, pears, plums and cherry!
The trees will provide habitat havens for wildlife and access to fresh fruit for local residents.
All equipment and training will be provided by the fabulous Brighton Permaculture Trust. Tasks will include digging holes, putting in posts, supports & protection for the trees. The session will be led by experts who can explain the permaculture approach to tree planting and ensure trees are planted in a way that they are most likely to thrive.
