If you are feeling brave there will be an opportunity to watch an old Dr Who series called The War Games in colour on Monday 23rd December at 9pm on BBC4 and on BBC iPlayer.
The War Games was first aired between April and June in 1969 and was originally in black and white. The episodes have been colourised by Rich Tipple from Saltdean. Rich is a Colourisation Artist who has colourised many Dr Who episodes from the 1960s. Further details on Rich can be found here.
The War Games sees the TARDIS arrive in no man’s land during WW1. Rescued from the Germans, the travellers are put on trial by the British General Smythe who is not all he seems! The Doctor discovers they are on an alien planet divided into different time zones where human soldiers fight never ending wars.
Much of the filming took place locally. Look out for the hospital van as it exits from the mists onto a valley road, you may well recognise the path as it follows the curves of the Cuckmere river. As the Doctor, Zoe and Jamie climb a hill to see where they are you will see more of the Seven Sisters Country Park. Do you recognise the farm buildings the Doctor spies through his binoculars? It is Birling Manor Farm at East Dean. Also look for the road heading to Litlington.
