A single artist can dream. A group of artists can light fires in other peoples’ hearts!

Salt Edge Arts was initiated by artist, printmaker and educator, Emma Taylor and has evolved into a group of 16 Sussex based professional artists, working in many different disciplines. ‘Shorelines’ is the group’s fourth summer exhibition to take place at South Hill Barn, Seaford.

The barn is an old agricultural building, with a great atmosphere, and situated near Cuckmere Haven, overlooking the Seven Sisters. Its history includes use in the First World War as a training location for soldiers before they went into battle. ‘Shorelines’ will involve the usual eclectic, innovative and highly creative mix of work, which often responds to the local landscape.

Alinah Azadeh, poet/writer in residence for the Seven Sisters Country Park, has contributed some of her words as inspiration for the artists. www.alinahazadeh.com

Each year Salt Edge Arts aims to promote an element of community and inclusiveness through open calls to participate in the exhibition. This year the opportunities to get involved are: ‘Message in a Bottle’ organised by Salt Edge Arts, and ‘Hag Stones: Luck and Protection’, organised by guest artist Sarah Pain. More details on the website: https://www.saltedgearts.com/exhibitions

Salt Edge Arts makes contributions to local charities from the summer exhibition art sales; for 2024 the chosen charity is The Youth Counselling Project https://www.tycp.org.uk/, which provides mental health support to children in ALL the Seaford Schools.
