National Woman’s Register

NWR – Bringing Women Together

NWR was formed in 1960, in the days when marriage and children generally meant that a woman’s career and other creative or intellectual pursuits took a back seat.  Times have changed, but NWR still provides a much-needed network for women to find like-minded friends with whom to explore ideas, discuss interests and embark on new activities.

How does it work?

There are groups across the country, each of which organises its own programme of events.  These are wide ranging, often reflecting members’ interests and concerns, but a typical programme might include:

Discussions and debates – the Future of Feminism, Brexit, What did your Mother do in the War? the Climate Crisis and many more.

Book groups poetry evenings, play readings, gardening and walking groups.

Talks from outside speakers – Refugee Action, Bee Keeping, Alcohol and Addiction, Plastic and Pollution, Chocolate etc.

Research sessions, board games, Music evenings.

Walks and garden visits, theatre outings, trips to galleries and places of local interest.

Meetings are informal and generally take place in members’ homes.  In addition, some groups organise regional events bringing together members from different areas.

A National network

As the name suggests, NWR is a national organization, so wherever you find yourself, there will be a group of lively minded women keen to welcome you. Also on offer are national events for all those who wish to take part together with active Facebook groups.

The National Women’s Register brings women together for friendship, fun, lively discussion and activity.

Come along and try us – we could be just what you are looking for!

How do I join?

We suggest that prospective members take part in two sessions before joining.
