Bhassexplore – Splash Point

Bhassexplore and the Green Sock volunteers removed over 2 tonnes of marine debris from our iconic Coastline on four different days between May and June. Their story is below:

‘We visited the location where a yacht ran aground at low tide in April 2024 at Splash Point to remove as much of the plastic and synthetic materials left behind as possible. The boat broke up into thousands of pieces, along with many other fishing industry ropes, ghost nets and general fishing debris in the area we had our work cut out.

Extreme beach cleaning at Splash Point – wow what a beautiful place.

A very challenging location to beach clean. We cleared as much as we could, carrying it over the rocks, past the famous chalk stack

and beneath the precarious pinnacle, across the white boulders and over tricky sea defences,

along shingle beaches,

before hauling everything up away from the sea.

Great team work got the job done!
